Yahoo! Column- The Style Spy: Sexy Summer Shoes

It’s amazing what a woman will do for love.

Recently I was that woman. I packed my bags and travelled across the globe from my new home in Los Angeles to my old hometown of Sydney. While others moaned and groaned their way through the leg swelling 13-hour flight- I sat there with a smug little smile on my face. Love will do that to you. Then when I finally arrived at 6am in the morning, while other passengers shielded their bloodshot eyes from the rising sun like vampires, I rushed home, slipped on my prettiest dress and headed to a very exciting breakfast- at 8am! Love will make you do crazy things, I tell you.

But make no mistake; it was not for the love of a man. Oh no. , It was for the love of shoes. You see, I had flown to Sydney to launch the new ALDO’s CBD flagship store and host an intimate breakfast in the ultimate location…a shoe store. Flight or no flight, if being surrounded by hundred of glistening new summer sandals and spring wedges doesn’t wake a woman up…it’s time to check her pulse!

As much as shoes might make us weak at the knees (for all the wrong reasons) the right pair of shoes can lift a woman’s spirits, not to mention her derrière, and I’m yet to meet a man who can do both of these things. At least not simultaneously.

So this summer get ready to paint those pretty toenails and scrub down those heels- here’s the newest sexy sandals and ‘wiggle in your walk’ wedges bound to make you fall in love with shoes all over again…

Platform sandals
If you want to raise the bar on style slip your tootsies into a platform sandal. The key is to opt for fresh summer neutrals that are more beaches chic than nightclub sleaze.

Wedges Rule
After a couple of years out of the spotlight, wedges started to make their return last year, and this summer, their comeback is complete. Not only are they uber chic, many women find wedge heels easier to wear than stilettos. Be on the lookout for rope, cork or linen accents.

Summer booties
Hooray…the sexy bootie is here to stay. To add a summer feel to your look make sure they feature a cool open toe and a nice summery fabric or shade.

Peep Toe Clogs
Perfect with jeans of crisp cotton shorts. The right pair of peep toe clogs will instantly add some fashion cred to your summer wardrobe.

Fierce Gladiators
Some styles don’t go down without a fight. Hey, they don’t call them gladiators for nothing! Have fun with summer colours or metallic shades to show off your (fake) summer tan.
